About Us
We are a Ceilidh band, based in the Channel Island of Jersey. We have been playing together for many years and play a mix of English, Scottish and Irish traditional music, with an emphasis on English Folk. We have two callers, one of whom is a qualified Scottish Dance instructor, and both are experienced with groups of all ages.
Band Line-up |
Our lead musician plays the English Melodeon. We also have two fiddlers, a guitarist, and 1 or 2 bodhrán players. We do not always play out with all our musicians, as it depends on holidays but we offer the same service regardless of our number. Our Callers are very experienced and can offer help to dancers of all abilities.

Our History |
The Caesarean Ceilidh Band was formed in 1981 following the success of barn dances organised by the local branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, performing in public for the first time in October of that year. Comprised then mainly of musicians from the two local Morris dancing sides, Helier Morris Men and The Jersey Lilies, the band first played under a variety of names including 'The Jersey Bean Crock and Windbreakers'! Becoming steadily more popular, by 1983 the band had progressed to playing on a regular basis under their current name. Musicians have come and gone over that period, lending their expertise to different line-ups and sharing their music. The musicians in the band today have been playing together for at least five years, although some have been with the band since its inception.
